"The Arts Come Alive" when the professional artists and ensembles of Smith Center Presents! take the stage. Music, dance, comedy, drama and the visual arts from a variety of cultures and traditions are featured during the 12th season.

Diamano Coura,"those who bring the message" in Senegalese, has been sharing their historical recreations of west African village dance rituals since 1975. The company includes dancers, actors, singers, acrobats, musicians, stiltwalkers, and visual artists from Mali, Senegal, Guinea, the Ivory Coast, Liberia, Gambia and the United States.

This year the Smith Center Spotlight focuses on an emerging artist in an intimate setting. R.W. Kendrick's most recent recording of original jazz and acoustic guitar music has received airplay on KCSM, the popular Bay Area jazz station. He will be joined in his exciting Smith Center Debut by bass, drum and percussion players from his album Havana Dream, an evocative mixture of jazz, Latin and classical guitar. R.W. KITKA
